After a fall at UNIQLO, identify the department and your path through the store. A trip beside a folded-merchandise table requires a different record from moisture near an entrance or a change in floor level. Weiss Attorneys reviews California shopping injuries and the evidence supporting a premises claim.
Folded merchandise, fitting-room routes, and department changes
Describe the condition you personally observed. If clothing, a hanger, or packaging lay on the floor, record its location relative to the table, rack, and walking path. If the fall happened near stairs, an escalator, or a fitting room, distinguish the route from the actual surface or object causing the incident.
- Identify the floor level, department, nearest merchandise table, and fitting-room number when known.
- Photograph the condition and a wider view showing the route from the aisle or doorway.
- Keep the receipt, order pickup record, or appointment message establishing the store visit.
- Record whether employees were folding clothing, replenishing a display, or inspecting nearby, limited to what you saw.
Report the incident and preserve the timeline
Seek appropriate medical care first. Report the fall to the manager and request an incident number. Write your own account of the date, approximate time, exact spot, condition, witnesses, and staff response. Separate what you observed before the fall from what others told you later.
Keep original photos, receipts, shoes, clothing, and communications about the incident. Preserve witness contact information. Record symptoms, treatment, missed work, and expenses accurately. Do not move the condition to recreate a photograph or repeat the incident as a test.
Video and inspection records
Identify cameras facing the incident area and the route leading toward it. Tell counsel about the visit time and location promptly so a preservation request identifies the right records. Footage before the fall helps investigate how the condition developed and what staff observed. Preserve your own files in their original format.
Evaluating responsibility
Liability requires negligence, injury, and causation. Investigate control of the area, who created the condition, and actual or constructive notice.
California Judicial Council civil jury instructions address premises liability in the CACI 1000 series.
Identify the California branch
Official UNIQLO listings identify these California examples. Address formats sometimes differ between a retailer and shopping-center directory, so preserve your receipt and the exact storefront location.
| Example branch | Retailer-listed address |
|---|---|
| UNIQLO Century City | 10250 Santa Monica Blvd, Suite 2540, Los Angeles, CA 90067 |
| UNIQLO Glendale Galleria | 1178 Galleria Way, Glendale, CA 91210 |

What if staff removed the object before I photographed it?
Write down what you saw, who removed it, and when. Preserve witness contact details and any original photographs taken by companions. Record the staff response accurately. A later picture of a cleared aisle documents the surroundings but does not show the earlier condition.
