Service appointments and the visit timeline
Keep jewelry repair tickets, inspection documents, appointment confirmations and pickup communications. They may help identify the branch and timing of your visit. Record whether the incident occurred near a service desk, a jewelry counter, the doorway or outside the building.
Follow the walking route from the parking area
A freestanding store visit and a shopping-center visit can present different maintenance questions. Describe the route you used and the exact point of the incident. Photograph the relationship between the condition and the store when safe; do not assume the retailer controls every surface around its building.
Separate observations from explanations
Write down what you personally saw separately from what employees or other visitors told you. Record the condition, surrounding walking space and any signs or cleaning activity you directly observed. Keep original photographs, witness details and incident-report information.
Preserve potentially relevant records
Give your attorney the store identity, precise incident area and time window so a preservation request can identify potentially useful camera footage and records. A counter camera may not show the doorway or outside walkway. The store operator and shopping-center manager may hold different records. Keep requests and responses; unavailable footage does not by itself establish responsibility.
Save receipts, footwear, treatment records, bills and documentation of missed work. Keep the original files rather than edited copies alone. Do not guess who created a condition or when it first appeared; record the facts you directly observed.
