Choose the correct GEICO reporting route

GEICO publishes 800-841-3000 for personal auto, motorcycle/ATV and RV claims, along with online reporting. Its claims center also supports reporting through the GEICO Mobile app. Commercial vehicle claims have a different published phone: 866-509-9444. Check the policy’s actual insurer before choosing a route.

Confirmation and existing-claim follow-up

GEICO’s online reporting guide describes confirmation after submitting a report and online claim management. Keep the confirmation and claim number. Use the claims center to track an existing matter, and obtain the assigned representative’s verified contact details before sending documents.

Premises injuries: identify the partner insurer

A home, renters, landlord or business policy obtained through GEICO may have a separate underwriting company. GEICO’s official partner directory lists property and business carriers and their reporting routes. Match the company named in the policy; do not assume the personal-auto phone handles a fall at a home or business. Ask the actual carrier where a premises bodily injury claim should be reported.

Prepare an accurate report

Have the date, location, vehicles, drivers and policy information available. Preserve original photographs and video, witness details and any report number. Describe what you observed; identify information you do not yet know. Save a copy or confirmation of what you submit and the name of the person who receives it.

Keep vehicle damage and injury questions separate

Ask which part of the claim the representative handles. Maintain a short list of unanswered questions about repairs, transportation, medical treatment and missed work. If you receive an offer or release, keep the full document for review rather than relying on a verbal description of its scope.

A disputed injury claim may require evidence beyond the initial report. Bring the insurer’s correspondence, policy documents and available treatment records to a consultation. Neither opening a claim nor receiving a claim number establishes fault, coverage or the value of an injury.

Premises evidence and policy questions

For a fall, preserve the exact location, incident report, safe photographs, witnesses, maintenance communications and treatment records. Identify the owner, tenant or manager involved and the actual insured entity. Homeowners or renters liability, landlord coverage, business liability and medical payments to others serve different roles. Coverage cannot be determined from the brand name alone.

Our premises injury insurance guide explains reporting roles, documents, statements and releases. A general premises-claim email was not verified; request the actual carrier’s liability reporting route. For an existing claim, use only the assigned handler’s verified email or secure upload method.

Injury claim follow-up: offers, denials and releases

Ask whether an offer concerns vehicle damage, bodily injury, or both. Keep the written offer, the proposed release and a list of unresolved treatment or work-loss questions. If the insurer disputes the claim, request its reasons and identify whether it questions responsibility, coverage, medical causation or the amount claimed. A disagreement alone does not establish improper claim handling.

Before a recorded statement or medical authorization, understand who requests it, its scope and any obligations under your own policy. Discuss unclear requests with counsel. Keep deadlines under review: an open claim, ongoing negotiations or an insurer’s response does not by itself preserve every legal right.
