AAA is a brand: identify the insurer first

A AAA membership card does not identify every insurance company using the AAA name. For Auto Club insurance associated with the Automobile Club of Southern California, the official claims line is 800-672-5246. CSAA Insurance Group publishes a separate claims number, 800-922-8228. Match the underwriting company on the policy or claim correspondence before reporting.

Slip, trip and fall injury claims

For a fall at a home, condo, or rental, ask the correct AAA insurer for the liability or medical-payments-to-others team. Auto Club provides a homeowners reporting route; CSAA provides its own claims assistance. A request to repair a building is different from reporting an injured visitor. For a business location, identify the actual commercial carrier rather than assuming the owner’s AAA auto policy applies.

Questions for the assigned claims team

Ask whether the claim belongs with Auto Club, CSAA, or another carrier, and record that company’s full name. If the report is transferred, obtain the receiving team’s reference number.

Request the claim number, handler’s name, telephone extension, and verified document-delivery instructions. Keep the confirmation and a dated copy of each submission. If you have counsel, coordinate substantive claim communications and settlement documents with your lawyer.

Organize the injury evidence

For a collision, preserve scene photographs, original video, witness contacts, report information, vehicle estimates, and insurer letters. For a fall, record the exact area and condition, incident-report reference, witnesses, and available camera locations. Tell your lawyer promptly about footage or records that may be lost. Keep treatment records, bills, and documentation of missed work together.

Coverage, statements, and settlement offers

Use the declarations, policy forms, and endorsements effective on the incident date. For auto injuries, the questions may involve another driver’s bodily injury liability, your own UM/UIM, or MedPay. For falls, investigate the relevant premises liability coverage, medical payments to others, and any excess policy. Availability depends on the policy and facts.

Before a recorded statement, broad medical authorization, or release, understand who requests it, its scope, and any obligations under your own policy. Ask whether an offer resolves vehicle damage, injuries, or both. A claim number, open negotiation, or reporting confirmation does not by itself protect every legal deadline.
