Reported event

KMJ carried a KFSN report about a September 28, 2026 collision on Lincoln Avenue between Cornelia and Blythe avenues. CHP said a Honda struck a Nissan from behind; two Nissan occupants died. The report said vehicle speeds and the reason for the impact remained unresolved.

Rear contact is a starting point for reconstruction

Identify the vehicles’ speeds, spacing and movements before contact. Physical damage, scene marks and available recordings may help evaluate braking and reaction time. A rear impact does not identify every event that preceded it. The investigation should test explanations against the evidence rather than fill gaps with assumptions about distraction or impairment.

Connect the impact with individual harm

Medical and emergency records may help establish the injuries associated with the collision. A fatality claim also requires identifying the eligible claimant and documenting the relevant losses. Maintain a separate file for each deceased or injured person. Repair information and the collision diagram are useful but do not replace evidence of a person’s losses.

Witness timing can narrow uncertainty

A witness who observed the vehicles before impact may provide different information from someone who arrived afterward. Record the viewing location and what the witness directly saw. Preserve available footage with timestamps. The initial report expressly left key questions open, so a civil assessment should not present an estimated speed or motive as established fact.

Practical records to preserve

Keep original photographs and videos, the incident number, witness contact details and copies of insurer correspondence. Record when and from whom each item was obtained. For an injury, keep treatment information and documentation of missed work. These materials help an attorney evaluate evidence and losses; their existence does not establish fault or guarantee a recovery.
