Questions for an individual claim

The lane-conflict question should be tested through physical marks and contact geometry. Different vehicle sizes can affect the damage pattern, so severity alone is a poor guide to which operator crossed the centerline. Separate occupant and family claims need their own documentation.

Records to organize

  • The collision report, witness contact information and original scene photographs.
  • Available dashcam or nearby surveillance recordings, with timestamps preserved.
  • Vehicle photographs and inspection records relevant to the reported collision.

Preparing for a consultation

Keep a dated account of the collision and preserve the original files rather than editing the only copy of a recording. Organize treatment records, bills, work absences and insurance correspondence. A news report may identify leads, but the underlying records are needed to evaluate an individual claim. The reported severity of another person’s injuries does not establish the value or outcome of your case.
